Society Theme
Our 2024–2025 Society theme, “Empowering Our Workforce: Building A Sustainable Future” focuses on attracting, retaining and maintaining the HVAC&R workforce of the future, today. Our industry is growing and the number of HVAC systems in operation will triple in the next 30 years to over 6 billion, yet our workforce is shrinking. We will build 2.5 trillion square feet of new buildings and renovate another 2.5 trillion square feet of existing buildings by 2050 to accommodate a global population of nearly 10 billion people. To meet the challenges we’ve accepted, create a sustainable world for everyone and decarbonize the built environment we will need to nearly triple the number of people working in our industry in the coming decades. This will require us to change the ways in which we promote, recruit, educate, upskill, reskill and grow the HVAC&R workforce.
