NC Department of Insurance, (they handle building codes and such)
Dan was recently promoted to Energy Code Chief and is the senior Mechanical Code Consultant and Interpreter.

(He was very well received in his presentation to us last September, on NC 2018 Mech Code Changes).

Dan has been the Chief Mechanical Code Consultant with the NC Department of Insurance since November, 2011.  Prior to this, he performed design review functions for state owned buildings while employed by the Department of Insurance (DOI) and State Construction Office (SCO).  Completed 300+ reviews for NC Building Code compliance, constructability, and adherence to published design guidelines.
Prior to design review, Dan was a design engineer designing plumbing, HVAC, and electrical systems.  Has extensive field experience from construction administration duties performed during the contractor’s installation of the office’s design packages.  Work was primarily performed in North Carolina.

Prior to design engineering, Dan was an experienced energy engineer who performed audits, calculations, sales support, and contract writing for energy-service projects. Projects were installed in a diverse market including public schools, universities, hospitals, military, commercial and industrial facilities. Work was primarily performed in New England, North and South Carolina, and California.
