What Does ASHRAE Mean to Me?

“ASHRAE has been a large part of my career since my involvement in the Triangle Chapter as a Research Promotion Chairperson. This involvement introduced me to many persons in the local HVAC industry, several of whom became key influences on directing my career path. After chairing this chapter, I was able to get involved in the regional activities, where my friendships were expanded to others in our Region who were at the same career point. The sharing of information, codes, standards, and knowledge base with local and regional peers has helped my expertise and confidence grow exponentially thru-out my 20+ year career. Now that I am involved at a Society level, I have the opportunity to learn from the persons in our industry who write the standards that we all design around, and to understand the issues facing our industry on a global scale. ASHRAE involvement has allowed me to feel that I can contribute to this industry in which I am invested, and to potentially assist in determining the path that this industry will follow in the future.”

"ASHRAE has been an essential way for me to connect and further serve the HVAC community here in Raleigh. ASHRAE has afforded me an opportunity for professional development and an opportunity to acquire leadership skills. In addition, I’ve been able to sharpen my technical skills and gain greater understanding of HVAC fundamentals as a result of attending meetings and the national broadcasts ASHRAE sponsors. I have been able to meet and develop many relationships as a result of my involvement with ASHRAE. I would encourage any young person to please get involved on a committee and give ASHRAE a try. Our Triangle chapter is one of the best in the nation and everyone involved is continually improving and adding to our success. I hope to see you at the next chapter meeting."
