Trail Maintenance Day at Durant Nature Preserve

Event Description:

Join staff in helping to ensure that the trails of Durant Nature Preserve are safe and functional. Our trail system could benefit from some work and repair. Please come out and give us a hand mulching and covering large roots and repairing the trail tread.


Tools used: We will be using wheel barrows, shovels, and rakes.

Work Environment: We will be working outside on uneven ground as we perform trail maintenance tasks. There is a restroom on site.

Please bring a water bottle, wear sturdy close-toed shoes and clothing you can get dirty. We will supply the tools and work-gloves.

Volunteer Requirements: Pre-registration is required. Volunteers must be at least 14 years old to volunteer. Everyone who volunteers must sign a release form. If anyone is under the age of 18, then a parent or guardian must sign their form as well. Volunteers under 16 years old will be required to have an adult who registers and volunteers along side them. 


Group Registration Information: Registration as a volunteer is first come, first served. All volunteers must register as individuals, but if you are a part of a group, please list the group in the "Registration Notes" when signing up.


Per department policy, this volunteer opportunity is not to be used towards court-appointed/ suggested community service hours.
